Rodney Williams currently works as a Lead Project Manager at National Grid on the Integrated Security Solutions project. He is responsible for a team of engineers delivering a national security programme of construction projects.
Since 2016, Rodney has led ‘ONE’, National Grid’s multicultural employee resource group (ERG), whose ambition is to support the black, Asian and minority ethnic community at work. Under his leadership, the ERG’s membership has increased by 95%. Rodney also co-founded the ‘Development Programme for Diverse Leaders’, designed to accelerate and support BAME employees to positions of management.
Rodney was recently honoured as one of the EMpower Top 50 Future Ethnic Minority Business Leaders in the 2019 and 2018 lists. His other key achievements include winning the National Grid Chairman’s Award for his efforts undertaken with the ‘ONE’ ERG and being selected to meet HRH Prince Charles. He has also been interviewed by ITV’s ‘Tonight’ programme for his contributions to inclusion and diversity within business.
Outside of work, Rodney has undertaken numerous speaking engagements on I&D, including Gastech’s Diversity in Energy Programme at their international exhibition & conference. He is also a trustee for City Year UK, a youth social action charity.
